10 Questions with Pootermobile – Rezn
Here at TWP we always try to bring you something different. Whether it be fun, unique themes, or giveaways and contest, there is always an atmosphere of fun and good times. This is the mindset for a new section here that will be called “10 Questions with Pootermobile.” The point is to ask someone in the BlackBerry community 10 questions related to BlackBerry, about themselves, and random stuff.
The first person I asked to participate was Rezn owner of Berryfication.com, a website dedicated to reviewing themes and apps, and he gladly accepted. So I’ll stop my rambling and get to the Q&A!
1. Q: How did you come to be in the BlackBerry scene?
A: Good question. I was still recovering from losing my best friend to suicide,
I needed an outlet, and had begun writing, tweeting and making some friends
involved in the industry. Developers, enthusiasts and more (like Hedone at
HedoneDesign, Tony at CockyCulture, Evie Carter at FortyThree PR and
others).
A friend had noticed my love for everything RIM, and asked me to write for
him. That friend was Chad at themes4bb.com. I wrote reviews, some news,
related to the Developers, put up their products and took care of uploading
them into the host there. From that point on I was into it. Always looking
for better ways to connect with the users, talking Developers about what I
liked or didn’t like. I wrote to PR agencies, forums, ect . My passion for
the entire culture just grew and grew.
2. Q: What BlackBerry are you rocking now?
A: Bold 9930
3. Q: Do you remember the first app/theme you reviewed?
A: I don’t remember that no. I do remember the first giveaway I set-up and did
though. It was Vlingo for BlackBerry. A major
achievement for me.
4. Q: Did you ever think Berryfication would get such positive reaction?
A: I knew that the fans and users I had built on Twitter, plus working with
Chad at themes4bb, Hedone at HedoneDesign and Wayne at WJDDesigns would all
be taken back but I didn’t think I’d ever get BlackBerry to actually follow
me.
5. Q: What is it about themes that attracts you to them?
A: It’s a lot of it. Mostly the expression of art and the culture behind each
step of the process. I’m especially partial to the point when the
promotional images or screenshot get shown to the fans. I love watching them
react and get charged up.
6. Q: Will you be attending DevCon?
A: It’s likely.
7. Q: If you would ever get another device, other than BlackBerry, what would
it be?
A: Probably iPhone. All the games are incredible on Apple or a Samsung Galaxy
S2. Yeah I love technology. But my heart beats to a RIM-beat.
8. Q: Is the PlayBook everything you expected it to be?
A: This caught me off guard. To be honest, not completely. At first I saw the
updates and thought they would stay consistent.. Over time they have gotten
further& further apart it seems. I’ve had it for months and it doesn’t have
a Native BBM app or Twitter Client.
Don’t get it twisted though. I’m using it all day every day. The browser,
The Bridge apps, The Camera and Video Camera.. Facebook. Apps like
Scrapbook, Blaq, Files & Folders, Poynt, BlackBerry News and some others
have really kept the device at my left hand. I’d be very disappointed if RIM
retired the tablet. I don’t want PlayBook 2 until the first one gets a
little more filling. Just one big update can get us there.
9. Q: Are you a zombie?
A: I am. I have an embarrassingly sloppy addiction to brain. I’ll eat right
through the helmet to get some brain. J
10. Q: Can we expect to see Berryfication in the BlackBerry scene for a long
time?
A: I hope so. There’s a lot of work in running a site. I see these other sites
pushing the recommended 6-7 posts per day and hope to be there soon or at
least hope to earn the VIP pass to all BlackBerry events and conferences in
the very near future. I plan to keep pouring my heart into this.
Big thanks to Rezn for accepting to be the first to answer the 10 questions. He’s a good friend, very dedicated BlackBerry fan, and runs an awesome website that keeps growing every day. So head over to Berryfication at the link below and leave a friendly comment
